Dr. Currier is ​​a renowned expert in structural design and product development for aerospace mechanical systems.  He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst specializing in Fluid Structure Interaction and is a Chateaubriand fellow with training from LadHyX, the fluid dynamics laboratory at École Polytechnique in France. Todd brings more than a decade of experience at top aerospace companies and research laboratories, where he designed and developed mechanical systems with an emphasis on fluids, structures and the interaction of the two.  

The Role

The Engineering Intern will support our on-site engineering team’s research & development efforts and client engineering/testing projects. You will work in-person at our R&D facility and develop real-world experience with our hardware and software assets. You will be responsible for assisting with the design and development of new aerospace technology, with the opportunity to conduct hands-on experiments using a variety of test rigs, including an on-site small-form jet engine test stand. We are looking for a candidate who is currently pursuing a degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or aerospace preferred) and has a strong foundation in math and science. Experience with CAD software and 3D modeling is a plus.

This is a paid internship with the potential for full-time employment upon completion. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical design concepts using CAD software
  • Hands-on support of testing and troubleshooting
  • Operation of manual machining and CNC equipment

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS/MS Engineering degree (open to degrees in Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science)
  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
  • Computer Skills: Matlab, NI-DAQ, Microsoft Tools, Fusion360, NX Skills a plus.
  • Due to the nature of the work applicants must be US Citizens with no known issues that would prevent them from obtaining security clearance. 

Compensation

$20/hr for a 3 month term with options to extend.
